Triathlon - Triathletes Counselling

Specialized counselling for track and field athletes, and triathletes based in the UK.

Triathlete Counselling Support

Counselling is for working on the emotional personal side of things that affect our lives. It is not sports psychology I work in a different way to a Sports Psychologist. If your issue is specifically related to your sporting performance you may be better contacting a Sports Psychologist you can find more information here: Sports Psychology - UK Sports Institute

Counselling can help with a range of issues including: anxiety, stress, low mood, worry, grief, loss, relationships and connections, self image, self esteem/worth, body dysmorphia, eating problems, anger and frustration, work life balance, loneliness and isolation, change, understanding your own thoughts and emotions, academic/work concerns, health anxieties, compulsive behaviour, trauma recovery.

Counselling itself will not help you to swim, bike, or run faster. However with a clearer mind, feeling happier and better in your self it can certainly help you in these areas. Often the problem can be away from the track in your personal life and this is where counselling can really help. My main priority is you and not triathlon.

About me

My name is Chris Brennan I've been a qualified counsellor for just over 12 years now. I decided to set this service up after hearing lots of different athletes talking about struggles they have been through or currently going through. I am not a triathlete, I am someone who does triathlons for fun but I am not an athlete/triathlete, but I do love the sport and I want to use my skills to help others. My background is mostly providing support for students in education (High School, Sixth Form College, University) I work with ages 11 right through to 65+. I have a Masters in Counselling Psychology (Keele University 2013) and I have been an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy since 2017,

How to access the service

The best way to access the service is to email me: info@counsellingforathletes.com I will then arrange a call with you to discuss how best to support you. This call is free of charge and if I do not feel I can help you I will help to signpost you to who can.

As triathletes can be based all over the country I tend to offer telephone or video counselling. But there is the option for face to face options in Wrexham and Cheshire please feel free to enquire about this.

Please Note: As I work full time the only times I offer counselling is weekday evenings Monday-Thursday and Saturday mornings/early afternoons.

If under 18 you must seek parental or guardian permission before accessing the service.
